How to avoid creating duplicate athlete profiles in ADAMS

Ensuring that each Athlete has a unique ID in ADAMS (Athlete profile) is the key to properly managing their anti-doping files. The system offers different options to avoid creating duplicate athlete profiles:

1. International Federations have automatic access in ADAMS to all athlete profiles of their sport and therefore can avoid creating a duplicate athlete profile if one already exists.
   
   
   
   
2. National Anti-Doping Organizations have automatic access in ADAMS only to profiles of athletes of their jurisdiction. When National Anti-Doping Organizations test athletes outside their jurisdiction, they can use either the Athlete advanced search to enter the relevant Doping Control Forms or add them to a Testing Order to search for existing athlete profiles and avoid creating a duplicate.
   
   
   
3. During the creation of an athlete profile, the system checks within the database whether the athlete profile already exists based on the name, date of birth, gender, nationality, sport and similarity factors.
   
   
4. When a potential duplicate is identified and the similarity factors indicate 85% or above chance for a match, the prompt below is displayed for the user to select one of the proposed athlete profiles by clicking the ADAMS ID. In such case, the system does not allow the creation of a new athlete profile.
   
   
   
   
   
5. When a potential duplicate is identified and the similarity factors indicate a less than 85% chance for a match, a prompt below is displayed for the user to either select one of the proposed athlete profiles records by clicking the ADAMS ID or proceed with the creation of the new athlete profile.
