In compliance with TD2021IRMS the following changes will become effective in ADAMS on 08 June 2021.

IRMS details in the Lab Results and EQAS forms:

New optional Target Compounds and Endogenous Reference Compounds are available in IRMS details tab for the Sample Received after 01 May 2021:

New Target Compounds with Specific Code between brackets:

  • 6a-OH-AD(6a-OH-AD)
  • Prednisone (PS)
  • Prednisolone (PSL)
  • Epiandrosterone (EpiA)

New Endogenous Reference Compound with Specific Code between brackets:

  • Pregnanetriol (PT)

Endogenous Reference Compounds

Two Endogenous Reference Compound selection boxes are available:

  • ERC: is mandatory when “GC/C/IRMS” is performed.
  • ERC2(for AAF/(ATF)): is required when the Intermediate Conclusion based on TC/ERC is AAF. This is required to confirm whether to report the Overall IRMS conclusion as AAF( if result with ERC2 is also AAF) or as ATF(if result with ERC2 is either negative or inconclusive).
    • Pregnanediol(PD) is only used as ERC and cannot be used as ERC2.

Target Compounds:

  • ERC |Δδ| (0/00): displays the absolute deltadelta values of the TC relative to ERC.
  • ERC2 |Δδ| (0/00): display the absolute deltadelta values of the TC relative to ERC2.

Detailed interpretation(s):

The Details interpretation is calculated against the Decision Rules for GC/C/IRMS Positive Test.

Intermediate conclusion based on reported TC/ERCs:

For each and every TC delta value entered and combinations thereof, the absolute deltadelta values will be calculated and validated against the Decision Rules for GC/C/IRMS Positive Test, resulting in an intermediate conclusion to be displayed.

The Intermediate conclusion is the ‘highest’ of the Detailed interpretation(s):

  • Negative – The GC/C/IRMS results do not confirm an exogenous origin of the target compound(s): This corresponds with a Negative outcome based on the calculation of deltadelta values for the entered TC/ERC.
  • Positive – The GC/C/IRMS results are consistent with the exogenous origin of the target compound(s):This corresponds with an AAF outcome based on the calculation of deltadelta values for the entered TC(s)/ERC.
  • Inconclusive – The GC/C/IRMS results are inconclusive for the target compound(s):This corresponds with an ATF outcome based on the calculation of deltadelta values for the entered TC(s)/ERC.

Overall IRMS conclusion:

Overall IRMS Conclusion is verified against Interpretations based on all reported TC/ERC(s).

  • The Resultant Intermediate conclusion (TC/ERC, TC/ERC2 combined) should correspond with the Overall IRMS Conclusion that the Lab selected:
    • Negative: result with ERC is Negative.
    • Positive (AAF): results with both ERC and ERC2 are Positive.
    • Inconclusive (ATF):
        • when result with ERC is Inconclusive
        • or results with ERC and ERC2 are inconsistent
        • or if there is not enough sample volume to analyze with ERC3 (when needed)
  • If there is a mismatch, then system raises an error message.

Comment: the Target Compound Details Interpretation are automatically included in the ADAMS Test report based on the Overall IRMS conclusion reported by the Laboratory in the IRMS details tab; therefore, there is no need for the Laboratories to select the GC/C/IRMS conclusions from the “add substance” List in ADAMS.

Lab Results Report:

In Desired columns “IRMS Endogenous Reference Compounds (ERC)” renamed to “IRMS ERC”, a new column for  “IRMS ERC2” is available.

In the Report:

  • Column "TC-[Target Compounds]-Δ δ" renamed to "TC-ERC [Target Compounds]-Δ δ" (example: TC-ERC-boldenonemet-Δδ).
  • Column "TC-ERC2- [Target Compounds]-Δ δ" is added (example:TC-ERC2-5aAdiol-Δδ)Snag_2057ca86.png
